Hala Darwish
Hala Darwish, PhD, RN, PMHNP-BC, FAAN, is an Associate Professor and Assistant Dean for Community Culture at the University of Michigan School of Nursing, with an affiliation in the University of Michigan Medical School Department of Neurology. Her work explores innovative, non-pharmacological approaches to addressing stress, craving, sleep disruption, and other challenges that can affect recovery across substance use disorders. She is developing iSOAR-SUD, a virtual-reality digital therapeutic that combines immersive restorative nature experiences with mindfulness and recovery-focused reflection. Her work aims to develop a scalable, low-burden tool that can complement traditional treatment and support individuals across clinical, community, and potentially home-based settings.
