Zidian Xie

Zidian Xie is a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester Medicine whose research focuses on using data science and digital technologies to support smoking and alcohol cessation. His work has used social media data to identify common challenges people encounter while trying to quit, as well as strategies and advice shared by others with similar experiences. Building on these insights, he is developing an AI-enabled digital coaching platform that uses large language models to deliver personalized and engaging cessation support. His work initially focuses on cigarette smoking and alcohol use, with the goal of creating a scalable approach that could ultimately be adapted to other substance use disorders.
