Rohan Palmer

Rohan Palmer is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Emory University whose research focuses on improving the early identification of alcohol addiction risk. Drawing on expertise in measurement development, behavior genetics, and addiction neuroscience, his work examines changes in motivation, behavioral control, and compulsive alcohol use that may emerge before individuals are identified by traditional screening approaches based largely on consumption and consequences. He has developed TRACER, a model and assessment tool designed to identify compulsive alcohol-related behavior and provide an earlier signal of addiction risk. His work aims to translate this approach into applications for clinical screening, addiction research, and digital health, potentially enabling earlier prevention and intervention.
