Nathan Didier
Nathan Didier is a PhD Student at Brown University whose research focuses on leveraging passive sensing technologies to improve substance use disorder treatment. He is helping develop the Monitoring and Processing Tool for Alcohol Concentration (MAPTAC), a web-based software application that analyzes data from wrist-worn biosensors to identify alcohol consumption while accounting for device non-wear and false-positive signals. In an outpatient alcohol use disorder sample, MAPTAC identified 94% of drinking days, demonstrating its potential as a clinical monitoring tool. Nathan aims to advance the platform toward real-time detection and integration into outpatient treatment, enabling providers to recognize lapses earlier, reduce reliance on patient self-disclosure, and deliver timely, supportive interventions.
