Michael Onu

Michael Onu is a PhD Student at Brown University whose work explores how wearable sensing technologies can strengthen addiction treatment and improve communication between patients and providers. He is part of the team developing the Monitoring and Processing Tool for Alcohol Concentration (MAPTAC), a software platform that processes passive biosensor data to help identify alcohol use outside clinical settings. His work seeks to translate advances in alcohol monitoring into practical tools that enable outpatient providers to recognize potential treatment lapses and respond with timely, individualized support. Through further development and clinical implementation, the team aims to expand the potential of passive monitoring technologies to support recovery across multiple substance use disorders.
