Jarratt Pytell is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Primary care physicians (PCPs) face significant challenges in managing opioid use disorders (OUD) due to lack of confidence, competence, and time constraints. Despite initiatives like the removal of the "x-waiver" for buprenorphine, PCPs remain underutilized in OUD treatment. Dr. Pytell is working on an AI solution that delivers tailored, "just-in-time" interventions to enhance PCP workflows and patient outcomes. By equipping PCPs with this AI-driven support, Dr. Pytell's solution aims to improve OUD treatment in marginalized, rural, and low-income communities, aligning with healthcare's triple aim: enhancing patient experience, improving outcomes, and reducing costs. This proactive approach empowers patients to begin recovery sooner, positively impacting their education, employment, and relationships.
