Yingshi Ouyang

Yingshi Ouyang is an Assistant Professor at Children’s National and The George Washington University whose research examines how prenatal opioid exposure affects the placenta, fetal development, and neonatal outcomes. Her work focuses on placental exosomes—nanosized vesicles that carry biological signals between the placenta and maternal circulation—to better understand how opioid exposure may disrupt maternal-fetal communication. By identifying molecular signatures associated with prenatal opioid exposure and neonatal opioid withdrawal syndrome, her research could ultimately contribute to noninvasive blood-based biomarkers that enable earlier risk identification, more personalized monitoring, and improved outcomes for pregnant individuals and their children.
